The HoloSight is a terrific sight mounted on my AR-15. Very easy to mount/dismount and produces a bright, easy-to-see rectile.
If you've never used this type of sight, it takes some getting used to. There is no magnification, this is NOT a scope. You keep both eyes open and focus in the distance, not on the sight. The rectile appears to float off in the distance. This works great in close-combat situations. This is the type of sight used by the military, although they use a much more rugged version that costs 2-4 times as much. For us civilians, the HoloSight is perfectly fine.
My favorite part of the HoloSight is the lack of parallax. If you've ever used a scope, you know that you need to keep your eye in line with the scope or the crosshairs will be misaligned. Not with this type of sight. If you move your head, the rectile stays in the same spot.
I only have two quibbles with the HoloSight. One, I wish I could choose the rectile pattern, your only choice is a circle with a center point. The other, more important thing I'd like to see is an adjustable auto-off. It's permanently set to 8 hours, I'd prefer to be able to change that to 1 hour, 30 minutes, etc. The battery life is nowhere near the milspec versions, which I think ranges into the hundreds of hours.
Overall, I'm very pleased with the HoloSight.
